Kate Rolfe

Kate graduated with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art in 2022, where she developed a body of work combining cyanotype and letterpress printmaking, and other mixed media techniques.

As well as illustrating, Kate enjoys writing and storytelling, with a particular interest in books that ask important and difficult questions, but in a warm and accessible way.

Kate also has a BA in Animation and has worked in theatre, graphic design, and textiles, as well as teaching illustration and leading creative workshops.

In 2022, Kate was the winner of the World Illustration Award for New Talent in Children’s Publishing, was named V&A Student Illustrator of the Year, and was runner-up in the Batsford Prize, Macmillan Prize, and the Sebastian Walker Prize. Her debut picture book, Wolf and Bear, was published in September 2023.
