Elys Dolan

Elys is an author and illustrator living in Cambridge, UK. She works across picture books, fiction and non-fiction and has a love of all things funny and ridiculous.

Elys has won the Laugh Out Loud Book Award for her picture book Mr Bunny’s Chocolate Factory and the Alligator’s Mouth Award for Rex: Dinosaur in Disguise. She has also been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, the Little Rebels Award and the Branford Bose Award amongst others.

When she’s not making her own books Elys is a senior lecturer on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art and has a PhD in humour in picture books. So, she’s technically Dr Dolan of doing funny pictures. Elys also keeps bees, collects pocket watches and spends a lot of time trying to stop her old house from falling down.
